1. Introduction

Smartbee LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates Gratiq, a tip calculator application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Camera and Photos

Gratiq requests access to your device's camera to photograph receipts. This permission is only used when you actively choose to scan a receipt.

2.2 Receipt Images

When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to Google Gemini AI for processing to extract the subtotal and tax amounts. The image is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.

2.3 Tip History

Your tip calculation history is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can delete this data at any time through the app's History feature.

2.4 Analytics Data

We may use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics such as page views and feature usage. This helps us improve the app. No personally identifiable information is collected.

2.5 Anonymized Receipt Data

With your consent, we collect anonymized receipt data to improve our service and provide better tipping insights. This includes: merchant names and categories, menu items and prices, transaction amounts (subtotal, tax, tip), and meal timing. No personal identifiers (user ID, device ID, credit card numbers) are ever collected or stored. Receipt images are never uploaded to our servers. You can opt out of this data collection at any time.

2.6 Location Data

With your permission, we may collect approximate location data (rounded to neighborhood level) when you scan a receipt. This is used to provide local restaurant and tipping insights. Location data is always optional — you can deny the permission and the app will work normally without it.

2.7 Advertising

We may display advertisements through third-party ad networks (such as Google AdMob). These services may collect information about your app usage and device to show relevant ads. This may include device identifiers, ad interaction data, and general usage patterns. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings (Settings > Privacy > Advertising).

Use the manual input feature instead of scanning

Gratiq is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
